We are honored to be presenting Dr. Daniel Gordis as our Scholar-in-Residence April 14th and 15th. Dr. Gordis will be speaking on a variety of topics throughout the weekend.  

The author of twelve books, Dr. Daniel Gordis is Senior Vice President and Koret Distinguished Fellow at Shalem College.  

Gordis’ history of Israel entitled Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn received the 2016 National Jewish Book Award as “Book of the Year.” Ambassador Dennis Ross, reflecting on the book, wrote, “When I am asked ‘Is there one book to read about Israel’ I now have an answer.” 

Dr. Gordis will be speaking on variety of subjects associated with Israel’s 75th anniversary. 

Friday, April 14th 

6:00 p.m. T.G.I.S Service 

7:00 p.m. Shabbat Dinner - SOLD OUT

8:00 p.m. Dr. Gordis will give a lecture on The High Price of Jewish Statehood: Is Israel Really Worth the Cost?  Shabbat dinner has sold out.  You may still attend the lecture. Please wait in the lobby until 8:00 p.m. for the Friday evening session or you may join in on zoom.

Saturday, April 15th there are two opportunities to hear him speak. 

9:30 a.m. Shabbat Service - Dr. Gordis will offer the D’var: John Lennon vs. The Bible – Today’s Battle between Universalism and Particularism  

10:00 a.m. Babysitting will be available for parents who would like to attend services. 

12:00 noon Shabbat lunch

12:45 p.m. Minchah Service in the Sanctuary

1:00 p.m. Lecture with Dr. Gordis: The American Jewish Assault on Jewish Peoplehood – Is it Really Happening? Why?
